Mz. Marcotte’s 10 BASIC Expectations

(as told to her by middle school students!)

These expectations are necessary for me to teach students Organization, Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Compassion and allows me to conduct an exciting hands-on science program in a safe and friendly classroom environment.

1.Students will be Responsible and be prepared for class.

If you ask to go to your locker I will most likely say, "Sorry, you are out of luck today!" or something similar.

2. Students will be Respectful, Honest and have Compassion toward their classmates and will not use hurtful or hateful put-downs. Students will also keep their hands and feet to themselves and be Respectful of other’s property.

All students have Civil Rights and student -on-student harassment is taken VERY seriously. All students have the right to feel safe in any classroom. Interfering in another student’s education is also treated like harassment. All students have the right to learn science equally.

3. Students will be Responsible and take care of bathroom and drink or other personal needs at appropriate times provided by the TEAM.

Bathroom requests will be discouraged and drinks will wait until the end of class.

4. Students will be Respectful , Honest and Compassionate and will cooperate with peers, instructors and guest speakers.

You will need to listen to your peers and ask them for assistance BEFORE you ask for help from me or other instructors. Sometimes kids can explain something better than an adult can!

5. Students will be Responsible and Honest and take care of materials provided for learning activities or labs and not destroy, misplace or misuse them.

We do a lot of hands-on activities. This will continue with your cooperation, responsibility and maturity. Please report those who do not comply as they will ruin it for you. Ask for a complaint form when you need one. All my students have the right to learn science in a enjoyable setting.

6. Students will be Responsible and place their written work in the homework basket complete and on time.

Please volunteer to collect and pass out papers, activity materials and supplies whenever possible. It will be to your advantage!

 7. Students will be Respectful and not roam about the room or hall at inappropriate times.

Arrive promptly and take care of business before the start of class. You will have a Seating Plan.

8. Students will be Responsible for their own education and your behavior and Honest with their individual work.

I will call your parents or guardians when you do not fulfill these basic expectations.

9. Students will be Respectful of LAB SAFETY RULES.

This will keep science safe for everyone.

10. All Students will be Respected, kept safe from verbal or physical harm and treated fairly.
